Terms of Service

Hey, thanks for using AnimeLover. These terms cover how the site works and what we expect from everyone using it. They're written to be read, not skimmed past, so they're short. By using the site you're agreeing to them.

What AnimeLover is

AnimeLover is a small, fan-run site for finding anime, keeping track of what you're watching and getting a heads-up when a new episode airs. Show details such as titles, covers, synopses, characters, scores and airing times come from AniList and a couple of other public anime databases. We don't write that information ourselves, so if something's wrong it's usually best fixed on AniList.

Videos on the watch page are played from third-party providers. We don't upload, host or store any video files.

Using the site

You don't need an account. When you first visit, your browser gets a random ID so your list, watch history and episode alerts can be saved for you. If you sign in with AniList, everything moves over to your AniList account and stays in sync with your AniList list. We never see your AniList password, as signing in happens on AniList's own page, and you can sign out whenever you like.

Adult (18+) titles are filtered out, but plenty of regular anime is aimed at older teens and adults, so use your own judgement about what you watch.

Your data

Here's everything we keep on our server:

• your list (status, progress, score, dates, notes and favourites)
• your watch history
• the shows you're subscribed to and the new-episode alerts we've sent you
• your AniList user ID if you've signed in, or the random browser ID if you haven't

Your settings (theme, subtitles, playback speed and so on) and where you stopped in each episode are kept in your own browser, not on our server. We don't run ads, we don't use tracking or analytics cookies, and we don't sell or share your data with anyone.

You can clear your history any time from Settings. Guest data that hasn't been used for 90 days is deleted automatically. If you'd like everything we hold about you removed, email [email protected] and we'll take care of it.

Third-party content

Video players, streams and some images come from services we don't own or control. We can't promise they'll always work, that every episode will be available, or that they'll be free of their own ads or pop-ups. Their content is their responsibility. Links to other sites, our Discord server included, are there for convenience; those places have their own rules.

Be decent

Please don't:

• scrape the site, hammer it with automated requests or try to get around its limits
• try to break into the site, its server or other people's data
• use the site to harass anyone or to do anything illegal

The site limits how many requests each visitor can make so it stays fast for everyone, and we may block anyone who abuses it.

No guarantees

AnimeLover is run by fans in their spare time and is provided as it is. It might go down, change, or lose features, and information pulled from other sites might be out of date or wrong. As far as the law allows, we're not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using the site or the third-party content linked from it.

If you own the rights to something you've found through AnimeLover and want it taken down, see our DMCA page for how to send a notice.

Changes

We'll update these terms now and then as the site changes. The date at the top always shows when they last changed, and if you keep using the site after an update you're accepting the new version.
